Cagayan de Oro has been classified as a first class city. It goes on to serve as regional center of Philippines; along with being the most populous and highly-urbanized city all over Northern Mindanao.

Cagayan de Oro City is located along the central coast of Northern Mindanao. It serves as Regional Center for Region X, bounded by Barangay Bugo on the east; on the west by Barangay Iponan; and Barangay Tumpagon on the south. The total land area is 488.86 kmē representing 13.9% of the entire Misamis OrientalProvince.


Cagayan de Oro experienced only two seasons, dry season and wet season. Wet season starts from the month of May to October and the heaviest rainfall is from the month of June to October. During this day, people love to spend their time at their own house specifically at their own soft bed with so many blankets and pillows to hug. While, the dry season starts form the month of November to April. Driest month is March with an average of 27.42 mm. of rain. People love to spend their summer at the beaches, swimming pools and malls.


Just like the other cities, Cagayan de Oro has been administered by elected and appointed official. The political government is composed of the Mayor, Vice Mayor, two Congressional Representatives, sixteen City Councilors, one Sangguniang Kabataan Federation representative and an Association of Barangay Captain representative. The elected officials are given a term of four year of service.
