Well known as the City of Golden Friendship, its people are truly really friendly and accommodating. It is in the culture of the City to accept visitors and accommodate them to its best accommodations and tourism. People at the city are like also other people in other cities in the Philippines. Usually people living in this city are well in their standard of living. Populations of Cagayan de Oro are composed of Pilipino Chinese, Cagayan Natives, Philippine Americans, Muslims, and less Indians. People around the Philippines also come and live in Cagayan de Oro. Standard of living here in Cagayan de Oro City is not that high compared to Metro Manila. People can still enjoy the nice clean air. Farmlands still exist and agriculture is still in development. Industries are developing. As the City grows to be a developing City, its income is also developing. Trading and commerce is the main livelihood of the people. People are good in their professional relations. Diversity among culture blend well to develop a positive relationship and outlook among people living in the city. Crimes are moderately less in the City. Investors are sprouting and businesses are made and grow. Relationship, connections and family are important and well preserved in Cagayan de Oro City. Still this city proving to be a "City of Golden Friendship"
Economics
Cagayan de Oro City is at its advantage. Having ship docks and ports, bus terminals, Domestic Airport, trade and
commerce is at its advantage in developing the economic situation in Cagayan de Oro City. 92 percent of the total
investment of Cagayan de Oro City is from infrastructure and services sector of the city. As of year 1997 the
city remarkably generated P16.522 billion in its investments. Year 1998, 2000 and 2001 when the Philippines
was affected by the Asian economic crisis, Cagayan experience a decreased in its economic investment but because
of the endorsement for the funding of the Mindanao International Container Port Project, the city pick its way up.
Investments of Cagayan de Oro was taken from various play leaders, firms and factories such as Nestlé Philippines,
Inc., Nestlé-Magnolia, Southern Industrial Gases, Cagayan Corn Products, CATIMCO Group of Companies, Coca Cola
Bottlers Philippines, Inc., and Pepsi Cola Philippines, Inc. These factories contribute to the investment increase
in the city. Aside from these factories business parks also exist to help Cagayan de Oro’s economic performance.
The first Cagayan de Oro Business Park, a project of MINERGY Systems Inc. and All Capital, also involves the
development of a 200-hectare area within the PHIVIDEC Industrial Estate.
Three other business parks are being programmed to be developed in the province:

Quality products are developed in Cagayan de Oro, thus this products are for export qualities.
Over the years, export performance in Cagayan de Oro relied largely on traditional products,
the major ones of which are canned pineapple, fatty alcohol, sintered ore, crude coconut oil and dessicated
coconut. Small scale businesses also emerge as economic assets. Internet cafes sprout all over Cagayan de
Oro due to the need of networking among students and other businesses firms.

traders to earn income. Malls and other infrastructures are developing in the city. Limketkai Center is under
huge renovation and investing in expanding its territory to provide more jobs and business outlets. SM is in

Infrastructure
Like any other developing cities here in the Philippines, developments of infrastructures are vast and is vital.
Cagayan de Oro City now has existing infrastructures that are as I can say established and stable. Cagayan offers
education to all of its inhabitants. There are many good Universities here in Cagayan de Oro that offered highly
good education. Xavier University, Mindanao University of Science and Technology, Capitol University and Liceo de
Cagayan University are the universities that are present in Cagayan de Oro. Cagayan de Oro welcomes students from
out of the country like Koreans who wants to study English. Many people and students come to Cagayan de Oro to study
and learn, from whole of Mindanao and in the whole Philippines.
Commercial buildings are also populating the city. These buildings offer business venue for investors and businessmen

For the people to feel relaxed Malls are stranding straight and present at Cagayan de Oro City. 6 storey buildings
of commercial centers made Cagayan a center of attraction in the whole Mindanao. Kagay-anons are fond of trading
with the mixed culture of Chinese and Muslims, trade is at its best.
When there is trade, Cagayan is
at its best because channels of transportation is present and is giving way for the city to earn in freights and
transportation income. Factories and other industries well I can say Cagayan also have. When there is a chanced
to be visited Cagayan prepares a vast numbers of accommodations for visitors and tourist. Hotels, Motels, and Inns
are scattered around CDO City, so tourist and visitors are not in a problem inn coming here.
This past few years Cagayan is developing its housings for the people. Many developers of different subdivisions
offer great places for the people to choose giving them to have it in a reasonable price. They provide proper
settlement and protection to the people and makes Cagayan de Oro City a nice city to live at.
